FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I register?

It’s really simple to get started.

To get started, visit our website on www.my-remit.com or download our mobile app.

You’ll need to enter your mobile number, email and password.

We’ll send you a text message, with the code, so that we can verify your mobile number.

You’ll then need to provide your full name, address, date of birth, nationality and the purpose of your account.

If we’re unable to go ahead and verify your account with these details, we’ll carry out some further checks. We may need to ask for a valid photo ID and a utility bill.

  • Why do we need to verify your identity?

As a Financially Regulated Company we are under an obligation to follow what are known as the “Know Your Customer” regulations, which require that we must understand who our customers are and understand who they are sending to and why.

  • We accept any government issued photo ID?

Please make sure that your ID contains all of the following:

    • Document number
    • Your photo
    • Your full name (must match with the one on your MyRemit account)
    • Your date of birth (must match with the one on your MyRemit account)
    • Your signature
    • Expiration date of the ID

Examples of types of IDs accepted:

    • Current signed passport
    • EEA national ID card
    • Driving Licence
  • Why was my ID documentation not accepted?

If your document was not accepted, it is possible that one of the below scenarios happened:

    • The document cannot be read due to low quality scan/photo
    • An incorrect document was uploaded, e.g. proof of address instead of proof of identity
    • Incomplete document upload, e.g. only the front side of the ID card was uploaded but the reverse side is missing
    • The document has expired
    • The name, address and/or date of birth do not match with the information you entered in your MyRemit profile
  • What types of proof of address do you accept?

We’ll ask you to provide a high quality photo or a downloaded PDF of a document showing your valid address.

    It should show:

    • Your name: must match the name on your MyRemit account
    • Your full personal address: must match the address on your MyRemit account
    • Date of issue: Must be within the previous 3 months
    • A logo, or clear name of the sender: like your bank, your local authority, your utilities provider, etc

A valid proof of address document can be:

    • Utility bills: gas, electric, or landline phone (no mobile phone bills)
    • A bank or credit card statement (photo of the original letter or PDF of statement)
    • A council tax bill, or a tax notification
    • Vehicle registration or tax
    • Photo driving licence showing your address and expiry date
    • Any other government or financial institution-issued document
